    Vína Merlot

    Merlot je jednou z nejoblíbenějších odrůd vinné révy na světě díky své šťavnaté chuti tmavého ovoce a hedvábně jemnému závěru. Vína Merlot mají obvykle střední nebo plné tělo s poměrně jemnými tříslovinami, díky nimž se opravdu snadno pijí. Typické chutě zahrnují ostružiny, cassis a švestky s nádechem hořké čokolády a spoustou koření, pokud zrají v dubu.

    Klíčové oblasti vína Merlot

    Merlot je nejčastěji pěstovanou odrůdou v Bordeaux, kde se obvykle mísí s Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec a Petit Verdot. Merlot dominuje zejména na pravém břehu řeky Gironde v prestižních apelacích Pomerol a St-Emilion, kde mu vyhovuje jílovitá půda a mírné klima. Mezi další klíčové oblasti pro kvalitní vína Merlot patří Itálie, kde se používá ve vínech Super Tuscan, a Napa Valley v Kalifornii.

    Merlot párování s jídlem

    Nejlepší vína Merlot bývají vhodná k jídlu díky svému příjemnému a vyváženému chuťovému profilu. Merlot z Nového světa z Kalifornie nebo Austrálie bývá o něco bohatší a zralejší, takže se dobře hodí ke šťavnatému steaku, grilovaným žebírkům nebo vydatnému guláši. Vína z Bordeaux na bázi Merlotu jsou obvykle zdrženlivější a zemitější, hodí se ke zvěřině, bažant nebo jednoduché ratatouille.
