    Vinařství Long Shadows, které časopis Food & Wine označil za "Vinařství roku", se již etablovalo jako jeden z předních výrobců vín z Columbia Valley. Projekt založil v roce 2003 Allen Shoup, bývalý generální ředitel Chateau Ste. Michelle, který pomohl stát Washington dostat na mapu vín světové úrovně. Long Shadows se zaměřuje na oblast Columbia Valley a spolupracuje s mnoha špičkovými světovými vinaři, kteří do projektu vnášejí svůj vlastní talent.

    Za tímto Syrahem stojí John Duval, který 16 let působil jako vinař legendárního australského Penfolds Grange. V roce 2003 přišel John do Columbia Valley, aby vytvořil toto "pokračování" své celoživotní práce se Syrahem. Ovoce pochází ze tří různých oblastí Columbia Valley, které dodávají vínu různé vlastnosti. Yakima Valley má tendenci dodávat jasné, elegantní nuance, zatímco Red Mountain Syrah přispívá strukturou a páteří a Bacchus Valley přináší spoustu zralého ovoce a barvy.

    Ve vůni převládají výrazné tóny divokých ostružin, cassis a tmavých třešní, v chuti pak pevné jádro tmavého ovoce opepřené žulou, uzeným masem a dubovými tóny koření. Díky bohatému plnému tělu a úderným tříslovinám se skvěle hodí k vydatným pokrmům z červeného masa, ačkoli v případě potřeby jej lze nechat ještě několik let ležet ve sklepě.
